XM XDRC2V1 XpressRCi Review:
The Audiovox XM XDRC2V1 XpressRCi does for satellite radio what Tivo did for television. Important features include a big split-screen color display, and the ability to record and replay sixty minutes of live radio. The subscriber can receive alerts when his favorite music or sport is being played. A program guide can be displayed to tell the listener about programs on other channels.
It can be installed in any vehicle with the PowerConnect Do-It-Yourself Installation Kit. Hardware is provided for vent or dash mounting and the dock is color coded to help make installation easier. The listener can choose to listen through the vehicle's FM radio to both Sirius and XM.
Users have given the device high marks while simultaneously complaining that even with professional installation it still doesn't look like it is a part of the car. Wires still show and one owner reports that it looks, "a little junkie."
At a little over one hundred dollars compared to eight hundred for factory-installed models, most people reported that they felt they got a good deal. Also it makes XM radio available for older cars where XM or satellite was never an option.
It is designed not only for use in vehicles. There is also a home dock available so that it can be used in the house. Past models broadcast a faint FM signal that could be picked up and rebroadcast on radios throughout the house. This unit must be hardwired to the radio set. Also antenna cable must be run to the home dock. Still, owners report using and enjoying it inside their homes.
Many say that it lasts only about a year but still give it good reviews because it is inexpensive and easily replaceable. Also, the power connect isn't as powerful as the ones on older models.
The Audiovox XM XDRC2V1 XpressRCi has its pros and cons but users are generally satisfied with it. Even while they point out its faults they praise its virtues. The general consensus is that it is an inexpensive way to bring outstanding Sirius or satellite radio to the home or car.
